Reddit marketing without getting banned

Do

• Read each subreddit’s rules and sidebar before posting. Some allow disclosed recommendations, some forbid any promotion.
• Disclose your affiliation every time you mention your product (“full disclosure, I built this”).
• Lead with a genuinely useful answer. The product mention should be optional to the value of your reply.
• Participate in communities beyond your own threads. Many people aim for most of their activity to be non-promotional.
• Write each reply for that specific thread.

Don’t

• Don’t automate posting, commenting, voting or DMs. Bots and scheduled spam are the fastest way to a sitewide ban.
• Don’t use multiple accounts or ask friends to upvote.
• Don’t paste the same reply or link into many threads.
• Don’t pitch in threads where nobody asked for a tool.
• Don’t DM people who didn’t invite it.

If you get removed or warned

Message the moderators politely, ask what rule you broke, and adjust. Repeat removals in one community are a sign to stop promoting there.
